The Think Tank – Issue 35 Exam-relevant articles for A Level Government and Politics

The Think Tank - Issue 35

Since our last issue the UK political scene has calmed down a little. In the aftermath of the General Election none of the predicted drama happened. May stayed as PM, the DUP and Conservatives finally made their deal, and no second election is on the horizon. However, the ongoing Brexit negotiations have not been going well, and students should follow these closely as this could give the government some big headaches in the next few years. In the USA and the rest of the world, things have been less quiet. For Donald Trump, while the Russia investigation rumbles on in the background, he’s had trouble with his own party as they failed to pass his healthcare reform bill. He’s also passed several controversial laws, including banning transgender personnel from the military and pardoning a sheriff many considered racist. He’s also had to deal with a white supremacy rally that resulted in the death of a counter protestor. Alongside this, Hurricane Harvey has caused devastation in Texas, Hurricane Irma has done the same in Florida, and North Korea’s missile programme has put South East Asia in danger of slipping into what could be a devastating war.

So, there’s a lot to keep up with, and, as always, we’ll do our best to keep students in the loop.

Unique among politics magazines, The Think Tank is written primarily by practising teachers, and is entirely specification-focused. In it we aim to draw out the exam-relevant issues of events, and make them accessible to students through discussion and exam-style questions.

Every article is commissioned for its relevance to key exam topics. It not only provides topical material for your lessons, but can also be given as extra material for eager students.

It’s also a jolly good read! You can preview the latest issue at http://zzed.co.uk /ThinkTank.

Price is from £60 per year — Includes photocopiable master with site licence; electronic copies available. Orders are normally dispatched in 2-5 working days.
